Even with the available discounts, the high price could be out of the reach of many pastors and seminary students who are trying to make ends meet. To be able to do a search and see results in original language resources, commentaries, sermon illustration books, etc. The amount and kind of resources is very helpful. The Logos interface is one of the most intuitive of the three. Logos is also the only program that currently has any kind of syntax search capability for the original languages. There are over 700 resources on the Scholar's Library Gold version that I reviewed. Logos is strong in terms of the sheer number of resources it makes available. BibleWorks also does not yet have the syntax search capabilities available on Logos. It can be run on a Mac by using software such as Parallels Desktop, but ideally, it could be offered in both a PC and Mac version. The main weakness of BibleWorks, in my opinion, is that it does not come in a Mac version. BibleWorks is a no-frills program, and this no-frills approach makes it the most affordable of the top three. The optional add-on modules available from BibleWorks are all related to original language research. It contains, for example, the Juoun-Muraoka Hebrew Grammar, the Waltke and O'Connor Hebrew Syntax, and the Wallace Greek Grammar as part of its base package. The different primary focus of each program tends to define the strengths and weaknesses of each.īibleWorks is strong in terms of the original language resources that come as part of its base package. Accordance appears to be focused on trying to achieve the best of both worlds - and to do this for Mac users.

BibleWorks focuses almost exclusively on the original languages of Scripture. It seems that the main fundamental difference between the three companies is in terms of their primary focus. The main difference is in the interface each uses for the searches. All three, for example, make use of morphologically tagged Hebrew and Greek databases to enable a wide variety of simple and complex searches. In other words, all three can do most of the same things in one form or another. I don't think it would be too much of an exaggeration to say that there is probably a 90-95% overlap here. It may be helpful at this point to provide a brief summary of my thoughts on how these three compare.Īll three software programs have strong original language capabilities.
